I want to talk about the emotion of fear because it’s ruled our lives for the last two and half years. Emotions are incredibly powerful and affect the way we feel and act daily. And the emotion of fear affects how we lead ourselves, our families, our teams, and everyone around us. It influences the people we come into contact with and permeates the energy of every space we enter.
That’s why it’s so important to tune into your internal dialogue and listen for the fear monkey.
- Has it got you paralyzed?
- Are you constantly holding yourself back, hesitating, or second-guessing?
Yeah, I know, I get it.
So why is fear so important at the moment?
Fear is among the most powerful of all emotions. And that is why we need to be mindful of how it plays out in our subconscious minds and how it shows up in our day-to-day lives and the impact it has on our quality of life.
Laser Drill your Focus
Have you ever stopped to wonder what particular fear is overriding your subconscious mind and how that’s affecting your daily life, your dreams, your hopes and your goals for the future?
Think about how you can replace that fear with focus.
You see I love the word focus because if done well, focus can put you back in the driver’s seat and allow you to take charge of your life, so you’re no longer a passenger simply floating around living in fear and even worse not reaching your full potential.
How is focus done well you ask? For me, it’s where you laser drill your mind to the task at hand and the exclusion of everything else, and that laser-drilled focus, which I try and do daily, is extraordinary and will change your life and change the way that you manage your day to day. It will take you from “I’m out of control” to absolute clarity.
Stop the Noise
We live in a world where there is so much noise, that the average person is now estimated to encounter between 6000-10,000 ads every single day. You know what I’m talking about right? Too much choice, too many decisions, too much overwhelm. “Oh I crave the old days”, I find myself saying and then dreading sounding like my parents.
The messaging is all around how we should look, who we should be, what we should eat, what we should say, how we should dress and the list goes on.
If we don’t focus and if we give in to fear, what does that mean for our dreams, our hopes, our lives, and ourselves?
What does that look like at the end of the day if we’re not in tune with these emotions that we’re feeling and if we’re not taking control of transferring that fear into focus?
So Focus means
- Knowing exactly what you want to do,
- How are you going to do it and
- How you’re going to get there to the exclusion of everything else
Speak to your Fear
It’s incredibly powerful.
I’ve become good at doing it. I’m not the best, but I try every single day to exclude everything else and focus on what I’m trying to achieve for that day, for that hour, whatever it might be.
So tap into your fear, and ask yourself the tough questions.
- What am I afraid of?
- What’s stopping me from doing that today?
- How can I laser drill my focus into achieving what I want?
So that I can live a life of choice for myself, and my family and be inspiring to those around me.
Let me leave you with that.
Think about it.
Let’s change fear for focus and take back control.
Because at some point you have to say enough is enough, right? Yeah, you’ve got it!!
