The Facts

  • We earn less throughout our working lives on average 14 % less than men
  • To compound this, we pay the motherhood penalty by having children
  • This is where we stop to have a family and this could be several times
  • This disrupts our careers, work, our ability to continue earning an income
  • This then impacts our superannuation balance when we retire, we retire on 50% less than men
  • We live longer – on average 5 years
  • So, we need more in retirement
  • To top it off, we avoid and are not comfortable making major financial decisions about our money and this continues throughout our lives
  • What happens when we are on our own and then have to face these decisions about money?
  • Is there something wrong with this equation?
  • YOU THINK!!

Over the last 30 years, I’ve worked with women who;

  • Are struggling with debt and don’t know how to get out of it
  • Have a strong income and some systems but they’re overwhelmed. They want a simple structure they can maintain. They also want to know what to do next with their money.
  • Are dealing with complicated financial situations and they don’t know where to start to get things under control
  • Feel stuck and they’re worried they’re falling behind
  • Have just inherited money and they’re afraid they’ll make a mistake and mishandle the money.
  • Can’t seem to grow their income.
  • Hate their job and they want to quit or retire but they don’t feel they can.
  • Have a fractured relationship with money.
  • Have no voice and constantly second-guess themselves. They just want to feel confident and sure of themselves.

Women’s Biggest Financial Regret

  • Women (41%) report that their biggest financial regret is not investing more.
  • Investments provide the opportunity for women to grow their wealth in ways that income alone does not.
  • The number one barrier (60%) to not investing is a lack of knowledge followed by not having confidence (34%).

Confidence can Trigger Action

Studies have shown that confidence leads to action. Women and financial confidence are a well-trodden topic, with action being the missing link.

The needle is not being moved for young women in particular; only 46% of Millennial women are confident in investing compared to older generations. This is concerning given Gen X is at 52%, Boomers at 54%, and the silent generation at 60%, progressively declining generation after generation.

Women have come a long way personally, professionally, and financially but when it comes to finances, there’s still considerable work to be done. My life’s mission is to change that by building financial confidence through education and action.

Am I fit for you? I don’t know. The only way to answer that question is to set up a clarity call and have a chat. Follow the link and book a time and we’ll go from there.
